ICEBREAKER: What is one thing most people don't know about you?

Share a little more about yourself and let us know something that most people don't know about you.

For instance...
What did your childhood self yearn to be when he/she/they grew up?
When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
What was your biggest mistake turned lesson?
What are you afraid of, big or small?
What unique quirks do you have?

This list of questions is by no means exhaustive of where this can go. Use your imagination to dig for something wild/surprising/unusual or share something totally 'normal' (whatever normal is) and relatable.

Hello My name is Elda,

I recently joined Sean Fargo’s program.  The one thing most people don’t know about me is that I have this weird gift Of pregnancy premonitions for my friends, family, and myself. I have a dream where I see them eating fish.  A year or some years later they are pregnant. I had a friend where she was told that she could not have kids. I told her that I dreamt she ate two fish. About five years later she had twins.

Wow!! That is incredible! What a unique and mysterious gift. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂 and welcome to the group!

Hello all!

I never really wanted to "be" anyone. I had a vivid imagination if my own. I can't think if anything I am afraid of either. A quirk (or maybe just OCD 😂) is that I am compelled to shut doors, cabinets and such before I leave the house. I also am compelled to pull up weeds...even when it is not at my house! 🚫🌱🤣

Hi Gillian, thank you for your responses. I am close to my Mother who adopted me even though it has been difficult for both of us as unfortunately as a child from foster I did not attach/bond the way she had hoped for. However she IS my mom and we love each other very much. 😊 We got through a lot!

I had always thought of myself as a teacher.  My favorite person was a fourth grade teacher.  She was the only person that ever asked if I was "alright".  After growing up never asked for opinion or even to think on my own really set me up without coping skills.  so getting through that was totally on intuition and excepting the fact that I would always do everything wrong first.

The teacher always stuck in me though.  As much as being the student.  Always learning, sometimes feel like a sponge and cannot get enough information.  I saw recently about now being able to download knowledge to the brain.  What????

I don't think that would be for me because I need to see the information in writing, hearing it recorded or read, and see demonstrations.  I otherwise will not remember.  It has helped though to clearing the mind.

Today I am still teaching.  Over the past years the only people that speak to me are people with problems.  I rarely just went out and visited with people.  Because it always came to people and problems wanting answers I didn't have.  Not understanding my light back then.  I prepare now.  Every interaction is a teaching moment.  Loving it.

I do not get paid because how do I charge to just talk?  Always.  Someday it will come.  Helping is more important at this time.

Hello Mindfulness Exercises Community 😀

I wanted to drop by and say hello. I’m a British Army veteran who now works for Rolls-Royce aerospace. I have recently created a website to help others using meditation and mindfulness techniques. I have used the all natural practices of Mindfulness and Meditation to help with my symptoms of PTSD. These techniques have enabled me to live a happy and abundant life once again. 💫

I’m excited to discuss topics with like minded people.

Thanks for the intro @Jonathan! It's wonderful to hear about your background - and your website looks great so far! PTSD is a topic we haven't discussed to much yet here; if you feel called to get a conversation about it going, feel free to start a new thread in the forum.

Looking forward to hearing more of your insights!

    • Ahhh....so many thoughts & feelings here; I like what Mooji says, "Stop having Street Fights with your mind", i.e. the moment is here right now! There is a "Cosmic activity"..i.e., being "Chatter, chatter, chatter...The Ego is always trying to Become Something". He goes on to say, "You must be here first, before anything can be perceived". So much to be learned here:                      https://youtu.be/ZmgQW8okUeo ***Very profound!

    • Lovely to hear from you Daniel. Thank you for sharing all of this. I am very glad to hear that loving kindness practice has been of great support for you - and withdrawing from the news a bit more. I have stepped away from Instagram for half a year as a way of supporting my wellbeing and reconnecting with inner peace (easier some days than others). I long for deep, honest, open-minded conversation, something that Instagram just does not have the capacity to provide. I'm grateful for connections with new people who I can be my authentic self with and with whom to share those rich dialogues that I long for - those that truly nourish me and remind me I'm supported and connected. The weight of the world is indeed a lot to carry. I feel it, too. I am sending loving prayers your way, Daniel. 💗
    • Hi Gillian and everyone on this thread. I had been worrying and feeling burdened by the state of the planet and the blocks to progress here in the United States. I took stock and withdrew from the nightly newscasts and cable channels. I read a brief synopsis on the internet in the morning and that is it. I am "taking refuge" as advocated especially by Tara Brach. My refuge is in the Loving Kindness Meditation. To me it is a prayer and I pray it often throughout each day. My way of doing that is to address the words to "all that is".  May all that is be filled with loving kindness. May all that is be safe and protected. May all that is be protected from inner and outer harm. May all that is be healthy. May all that is be happy. May all that is live with ease. I can't really describe the sense of relief it gives me to pray this prayer. I recognize it is my way of "doing something" about all the things I care about.  I also have done my own version of RAIN. That has brought some real benefit. I have reappraised my life and relationships. I recognize now the good I did and do and where I failed/fail. I can now live  better with both. When thinking of those who can't see getting a vaccination as a service to all others on planet earth, I say the loving kindness prayer. To Mitch McConnell and those others who oppose any good plan to promote equality and care in America, I say the loving kindness prayer. This is my refuge. I have worked on forgiving those who have caused me hurt or injury. I am making progress. Letting go of anger and hurt is not easy but brings out the energy I used to use to feel those feelings. I am following Rick Hanson's guidance to  soak in the goodness I feel whenever I feel it. He encourages us to let it grow and expand and it is getting easier. That has led me to recognize and be filled with gratitude for everything good that has happened and is happening in my own life and the lives of others.  I enjoy this focus on the good. For me, it is empowering and uplifting. I only spend time with friends who feel grateful as well. I try to share positivity with all those I encounter daily in public by greeting them warmly and wishing them a good day or helping in some simple way. Every simple act seems well received and doing them helps me. At this hour of my life, I have decided that this is what I can do to make life better. Daniel
