Day 1 of my 100 days of meditation

When I saw the opportunity to practice 100 days of mindfulness through Mindfulness Exercises, I thought what a great way to start 2021 and keep my practice going.  I just completed day 1 and hearing Sean's voice felt like coming home.  I felt connected and enjoyed the opportunity to just sit and explore my breath.  Such a simple exercise, that sometimes I can forget to use the tool of breath to center myself.  A sweet reminder as we breathe into this new year.

Lovely reflections Carrie - thank you for sharing with us! And I can absolutely relate to that 'forgetting' about the breath. It is always right here and yet it is so frequently overlooked.

    • I was fortunate to be introduced to Rebirthing-Breathwork when I was 19 y/o, and that was 30 years ago. It changed my life, I was starting to drink excessively, and it was either keep drinking or Breathwork. I glad I chose the second.  Over the year, I practiced and got certified in different Breathwork modalities,  Holotropic Breathwork, Rebirthing, Transformational, Vivation, etc. They all have something in common, and that is Conscious Connected Breathing, connecting the inhale and the exhale without a pause.  It’s very powerful, it’s active, and it’s safe. It’s allowing the life force to take over, allowing me to be one with the Divine, knowing that I’m always safe. It’s having an experience that I am one with it, the all. 
    • Hi everyone, I will soon be starting a course with Isa Gucciardi and so will be reading her book, 'Coming to Peace.'     • @Rachel - thank you for sharing your blog. I read it and much of it resonated with me - from the blend of emotions that arise in response to the world to our fundamental interconnectedness and in-between. A couple of things that I'd like to share more about in response to your words: You wrote, "Perhaps it will come in the form of my own children and their awareness and contributions," which touches on something I often reflect on. That is, we cannot know the downstream consequences of our actions, and children are a wonderful example of this. Let's say we raise a child and through our teachings, they develop a deep commitment to the soil... or to animals... or to humans, whatever it may be. They will go out into the world and bring that with them, adding their own heart to it, expressing that love and commitment in their own way. And then they may have children, sharing the same teachings and values. In this way, we can see that the ripple is infinite - and, it can be conceptualized in all forms of relationship, not just parent-child relationships. When we envision our actions in this way, we can see that everything matters, even the smallest acts of kindness, forgiveness, generosity. I also like how you note some of the different forms that mindfulness and compassion can take for you. I think this is such an important reminder - that we can each contribute mindfully in our own ways. And again, as you said, the fruits of those mindful contributions could be known or unknown.
