Does anyone find peace in kirtan and chanting? Have you practiced it or are you unfamiliar with it?

When I completed by 200-hour yoga teacher training at an ashram in Guatemala, we chanted daily and had a weekly cacao kirtan. Since then, my interest in this practice has wavered (disappearing all together for periods of time), but I've found it growing again in the past month or so. Something in me feels deeply called to making this a part of my daily practice.

Does anyone feel the same... or have any questions about kirtan/chanting? I'm not an expert but would love to discuss.

I was introduced to kirtan a couple of years ago. I didn't think I would like it, but I fell in love with it. After all, I do love to sing! Have you seen movie "Mantra"? It is a beautiful movie. I am a mindfulness instructor but there is something about this practice that opens me up to settle the mind and body quickly and the singing of the mantras in the call and response fashion just resonates within me. I feel this energy that moves through me in a different way than what I feel in any other practice.

I have seen Deva Primal and Mitan with Manouse a few times in concert and it is beautiful. I've tried watching their concerts online but it's so different practicing in person.

Thank you @Mindfulness With Robyn for your thoughts - and for the film recommendation. I am on the lookout for documentaries to watch so this is perfect.

I resonate with everything you have said here. It is really a beautiful practice that when surrendered to holds immense power.
